About the Book A Grain of Rice

The story follows a poor but clever farmer named Pong Lo, who dreams of marrying the Emperor’s daughter despite his lowly status. One day, Pong Lo performs a great service for the Emperor, who—impressed by his loyalty and skill—offers him any reward he wishes. Instead of asking for riches or land, Pong Lo makes a humble request that belies its underlying brilliance. He asks for a single grain of rice, but with a catch—he wants the amount to double every day for a month.

The Emperor, amused by what he perceives as a modest and foolish request, readily agrees. However, as the days pass and the amounts rapidly multiply, it becomes clear that Pong Lo's cleverness will yield an enormous fortune. By the end of the month, Pong Lo accumulates more rice than anyone could have imagined, proving that wisdom and strategy can trump sheer wealth and power.

This Page Is Under Construction

It takes a long time to gather all the data for our new book page format with more useful descriptions, themes, and activity ideas. Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
