A Pocket for Corduroy by Don Freeman is a children’s book that follows the adventures of Corduroy, a stuffed bear, and his owner, Lisa.
Lisa and her mother take Corduroy to the laundromat. While there, Corduroy notices that he doesn’t have a pocket like Lisa does. Determined to find one, he embarks on a little adventure around the laundromat. Corduroy ends up getting lost and spends the night in the laundromat. The next morning, Lisa returns and finds him. She takes him home and sews a pocket onto his overalls, ensuring he can carry a name card with him.
The story highlights themes of curiosity, adventure, and the bond between a child and their beloved toy. It’s a delightful read for young children and a great way to introduce them to the concepts of problem-solving and caring for others.
