About the Book Caddie Woodlawn

11-year-old Caddie lives with her family in the rugged Wisconsin frontier during the 1860s. The story is based on the real-life experiences of Carol Ryrie Brink’s grandmother, adding an extra layer of authenticity to the narrative.

Caddie is a tomboy, preferring the freedom of the outdoors over traditional domestic roles. She spends her days exploring the woods, crossing rivers, and befriending Native Americans, all while defying societal expectations. Her adventurous spirit often leads her into trouble, but it also showcases her bravery and independence.

Alongside Caddie are her siblings, Tom and Warren, who share in her escapades. The trio faces various challenges, from dealing with local prejudices to confronting their fears. Through these experiences, Caddie learns valuable life lessons about courage, responsibility, and empathy.

Caddie Woodlawn is a Newbery Medal Award Winner

Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
