About the Book Canyons

Canyons starts by introducing readers to two protagonists from different eras. Brennan Cole is a contemporary teenager dealing with the typical struggles of adolescence. On the other hand, we have Coyote Runs, a Native American boy from the late 1800s, preparing for his first raid to prove his manhood. The juxtaposition of these two characters sets the stage for an engaging dual narrative that keeps readers hooked from the get-go.

Brennan discovers a mysterious skull during a camping trip. This skull, as it turns out, belongs to Coyote Runs, who was tragically killed during his rite of passage. Brennan feels a profound connection to this ancient relic, sparking a quest to understand the life and death of Coyote Runs. His determination to find the truth propels the story forward, intertwining the past and the present in a seamless blend of suspense and reflection.

The book reaches its climax as Brennan, driven by an almost spiritual connection to Coyote Runs, attempts to return the skull to its rightful resting place. This act of respect and closure brings the story full circle, highlighting themes of identity, respect for cultural heritage, and the universal quest for meaning.

It takes a long time to gather all the data for our new book page format with more useful descriptions, themes, and activity ideas. Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
