About the Book Cold Mountain

Cold Mountain tells the story of W.P. Inman, a Confederate soldier, who deserts the army and undertakes a perilous trek back to his beloved Ada Monroe in Cold Mountain, North Carolina. At the same time, Ada, who has been left to manage her deceased father's farm, learns to survive in a world turned upside down by war. Despite their physical separation, both characters endure parallel journeys of self-discovery and transformation.

Inman’s path is fraught with danger as he encounters various individuals who either aid or hinder his progress. His experiences shed light on the broader context of the Civil War, illustrating the chaos and brutality of that era. On the other hand, Ada’s story is one of personal growth and resilience. Under the guidance of Ruby Thewes, a tough and resourceful woman, Ada learns essential survival skills and transforms from a genteel Southern belle into a capable, independent woman.

Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
