About the Book Coraline

Coraline Jones and her family move into a new apartment in an old house with quirky neighbors. Struggling with boredom and feeling ignored by her busy parents, Coraline begins to explore her new surroundings.

One day, Coraline discovers a small door in their apartment. Initially bricked up, the door eventually opens to reveal a corridor leading to a mirror universe. This other world mirrors her own but has eerie differences. Here, she meets her "Other Mother" and "Other Father," who appear to be more attentive and caring compared to her real parents.

However, things take a dark turn when Coraline realizes that this idealized world conceals a terrifying secret. Her "Other Mother" wants to keep her in this world forever and even offers to sew buttons into Coraline's eyes. Coraline musters her courage and decides to return to her real world, but not before discovering that her real parents have been kidnapped.

Determined to rescue her parents, Coraline bravely returns to the other world. With the help of her wits, the black cat, and a mystical seeing stone given to her by Miss Spink and Miss Forcible, she navigates the dangers of the mirrored world. She confronts the "Other Mother," rescues the souls of previous victims, and ultimately emerges victorious.

Coraline returns to her world, having freed her parents and the trapped souls. Her bravery transforms her, and she gains a newfound appreciation for her real life and family. The other world fades into memory, but the lessons Coraline learns stay with her.

It takes a long time to gather all the data for our new book page format with more useful descriptions, themes, and activity ideas. Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
