About the Book Crazy Lady

Thirteen-year-old Vernon is struggling with the recent loss of his mother and the resulting emotional void. His father, struggling with his own grief, finds it challenging to connect with Vernon, leaving the boy feeling isolated and misunderstood.

One day, Vernon encounters Ronald, a boy with developmental disabilities, and his mother Maxine, known in the neighborhood as the "Crazy Lady." Despite her eccentric behavior and struggles with alcoholism, Maxine is fiercely protective of Ronald. Vernon and Ronald form an unlikely friendship, offering readers a firsthand look at the challenges and rewards of building bridges across differences.

The story takes a significant turn when Maxine herself becomes a target of neighborhood scorn. Vernon, despite his initial reluctance, steps in to help Ronald and Maxine. Through this, Vernon learns valuable life lessons about empathy, responsibility, and the complexities of human nature.

This Page Is Under Construction

It takes a long time to gather all the data for our new book page format with more useful descriptions, themes, and activity ideas. Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
