About the Book Daphne's Book
Daphne's Book follows the story of Jessica and Daphne, two junior high school students who couldn't be more different. Jessica is an average girl who prides herself on fitting in, while Daphne is eccentric and comes from a troubled home. The two are reluctantly paired together for a school project—a project that leads Jessica to discover Daphne's secret world through a manuscript.
Jessica learns that Daphne is dealing with a lot more than meets the eye. Daphne's manuscript reveals the emotional and physical neglect she suffers at home, shedding light on her peculiar behavior at school. Through the course of their friendship, Jessica grows from someone who was initially judgmental and apprehensive into a person who understands the complexities of friendship and empathy.
