About the Book Darkness Before Dawn

Darkness Before Dawn is the final installment in Draper's acclaimed Hazelwood High Trilogy. The story follows Keisha Montgomery, a high school senior, who is struggling with the recent death of her boyfriend, Andy Jackson. Andy's tragic suicide has left a void in Keisha's life, engulfing her in a whirlwind of grief, confusion, and vulnerability.

Amidst this emotional turmoil, Keisha finds herself drawn to Jonathan Hathaway, the charming yet enigmatic track coach of her high school. What begins as a seemingly innocent relationship soon spirals into a dangerous situation, revealing Jonathan's true, predatory nature. The novel chronicles Keisha's struggle to reclaim her sense of self and safety, highlighting the importance of support systems and personal strength.
