About the Book David Copperfield

David Copperfield chronicles the life of its titular character, David Copperfield, from infancy to adulthood. The novel begins with David's birth, shortly after the death of his father. Raised by his doting mother Clara and their stern housekeeper Peggotty, David's early years are filled with love. However, this idyllic existence is shattered when Clara marries the tyrannical Mr. Murdstone.

Under Mr. Murdstone's oppressive rule, David is sent away to a harsh boarding school where he befriends James Steerforth and Tommy Traddles. Tragedy strikes when David's mother dies, forcing him to work in a miserable factory owned by Murdstone. This period of his life is marked by hardship, yet it shapes his resilience and determination.

David eventually escapes the factory and seeks refuge with his eccentric Aunt Betsey Trotwood. She provides him with a stable home and supports his education. Under her care, David thrives and begins to build meaningful relationships with several characters, including the loyal servant Mr. Dick, the ambitious Uriah Heep, and the kind-hearted Micawber family.

His adult life sees continued personal and professional growth. David pursues a career as a writer, marries his first love Dora Spenlow, and later forms a deep bond with the sensible Agnes Wickfield. Along the way, he encounters various characters who impact his life, both positively and negatively, and learns valuable lessons about integrity, loyalty, and self-worth.

Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
