About the Book Dragonwings

Born in China, Moon Shadow is raised by his mother and grandmother while his father, Windrider, works in the United States.

When Moon Shadow turns eight, he travels to San Francisco to join his father, whom he has never met. Windrider works in a laundromat in Chinatown, earning money to bring his family to America. Despite the hardships and racial discrimination they face, Windrider harbors a dream of building and flying his own airplane, inspired by a visionary experience where he believed he was a dragon in a previous life.

The bond between Moon Shadow and Windrider strengthens as they work towards this dream, navigating the challenges of a new country, the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, and societal prejudices. Their ambition culminates in the construction of an airplane, which they name "Dragonwings," symbolizing their hopes and aspirations.

This Page Is Under Construction

It takes a long time to gather all the data for our new book page format with more useful descriptions, themes, and activity ideas. Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
