About the Book Durango Street

Rufus Henry, a young African American teenager, has just been released from a juvenile detention center. Determined to leave his troublesome past behind, Rufus moves to Durango Street with his mother and siblings, hoping for a fresh start. However, he quickly finds himself entangled in the local gang scene, specifically with the "Moors," a gang that dominates the neighborhood.

Rufus meets characters like Baby Gibson, a gang leader, and Alex Robbins, a social worker who sees potential in Rufus and strives to guide him towards a better path. Throughout the narrative, Rufus grapples with his circumstances, trying to protect his family while navigating the treacherous waters of gang life.

The turning point comes when Rufus must choose between continuing down a path of violence and crime or seizing the opportunity for redemption offered by Robbins. This choice not only affects his future but also the lives of those around him.

This Page Is Under Construction

It takes a long time to gather all the data for our new book page format with more useful descriptions, themes, and activity ideas. Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
