About the Book Freckle Juice

Freckle Juice introduces us to Andrew Marcus, a second-grader who longs to have freckles like his classmate Nicky Lane. Andrew believes that having freckles will solve all his problems, especially the chore of taking daily baths. His obsession with freckles leads him to dream about the possibilities and even try drawing them on his face with a blue marker, which brings more trouble than joy.

Enter Sharon, a crafty classmate who seizes the opportunity to make a quick buck off Andrew’s desperation. She offers him a "super-secret" recipe for freckle juice in exchange for fifty cents. Excited and hopeful, Andrew eagerly agrees and follows the recipe, which turns out to be a concoction of bizarre ingredients like vinegar, mustard, and pepper. Despite his best efforts, Andrew ends up feeling sick without a single freckle in sight.

In the end, Andrew realizes that freckles aren’t the solution to his problems. His teacher, Miss Kelly, gently helps him understand that he is perfect just the way he is. The story concludes with Andrew gaining a newfound appreciation for himself and learning an important lesson about self-acceptance.

This Page Is Under Construction

It takes a long time to gather all the data for our new book page format with more useful descriptions, themes, and activity ideas. Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
