About the Play Hamlet

Hamlet is a story of revenge, tragedy, and moral contemplation. The play opens with the ghost of King Hamlet haunting the ramparts of Elsinore Castle, beckoning his son, Prince Hamlet, to avenge his untimely death at the hands of his brother Claudius, who has usurped the throne and married Queen Gertrude, Hamlet's mother.

Hamlet's quest for vengeance is fraught with hesitation and philosophical musings, leading him down a path of feigned madness, contemplation of life and death, and the ultimate unraveling of the royal family. Key moments such as "To be or not to be" soliloquy, Ophelia's descent into madness, and the final tragic duel, punctuate a play rich with classroom discussion points.
