About the Book Heat

Heat follows the life of Michael Arroyo, a twelve-year-old boy with an extraordinary talent for baseball. Living in the Bronx, Michael dreams of pitching in the Little League World Series. However, his life is far from easy. After the sudden death of his father, Michael and his older brother Carlos keep their father’s passing a secret to avoid being separated and placed in foster care.

Michael's world revolves around baseball, and his team, the Clippers, is his second family. But as he gets closer to achieving his dreams, questions about his age and eligibility surface. Without a birth certificate to prove his age, Michael faces the possibility of being barred from playing the sport he loves. His passion for baseball is matched only by his struggle to keep his family together and his determination to overcome the hurdles life throws at him.

This Page Is Under Construction

It takes a long time to gather all the data for our new book page format with more useful descriptions, themes, and activity ideas. Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
