About the Book Ira Sleeps Over

Ira Sleeps Over by Bernard Waber is a charming and relatable children’s book that explores themes of self-expression, understanding, and acceptance. The story follows a young boy named Ira who is excited about his first sleepover at his friend Reggie’s house. However, Ira faces a dilemma: should he bring his beloved teddy bear, Tah Tah, with him?

Ira’s sister teases him, suggesting that Reggie will laugh if he brings the teddy bear. This makes Ira anxious, and he goes back and forth on his decision. When he arrives at Reggie’s house, they have fun playing and telling ghost stories. Eventually, Ira discovers that Reggie also has a teddy bear named Fufu, which reassures him.

The book wonderfully portrays the emotions and challenges of childhood, reassuring children that it’s perfectly fine to be themselves, even if they’re concerned about others’ opinions.

This Page Is Under Construction

It takes a long time to gather all the data for our new book page format with more useful descriptions, themes, and activity ideas. Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
