About the Book Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile by Bernard Waber is a delightful children’s book that has charmed readers since its publication in 1965. The story revolves around Lyle, a charming, friendly, and loveable crocodile who lives on East 88th Street in New York City with the Primm family.

Lyle is known for his helpful nature, assisting the Primm family with chores and playing with their son, Joshua, and his friends. However, not everyone is fond of Lyle. Their neighbor, Mr. Grumps dislikes Lyle because he scares his cat, Loretta. Despite Lyle’s efforts to win over Mr. Grump, things go wrong, and Lyle is sent to the zoo.

The story takes a turn when Lyle’s old performing partner, Mr. Valenti, frees him from the zoo. They return to the Primm family’s neighborhood, only to find Mr. Grumps’ house on fire. Lyle heroically rescues Mr. Grumps and Loretta, earning their gratitude and acceptance. In the end, Lyle is allowed to stay with the Primm family, and even Mr. Grump changes his opinion of Lyle.

Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
