About the Book Miracle's Boys

Miracle’s Boys by Jacqueline Woodson tells the story of three brothers—Lafayette, Charlie, and Ty’ree Bailey—who are orphaned after the tragic deaths of their parents. The novel unfolds over two days, interspersed with flashbacks that reveal the brothers’ struggles with grief, guilt, and the challenges of growing up in New York City.

Lafayette, the youngest, narrates the story, sharing his perspective on the changes in his family, especially after Charlie returns from a juvenile detention center. Charlie, once kind and caring, has become distant and troubled, earning the nickname “Newcharlie” from Lafayette. Ty’ree, the eldest, sacrifices his dreams of attending MIT to take care of his younger brothers. The novel explores themes of brotherhood, resilience, and the impact of loss, culminating in a moment of unity as the brothers face their future together.

It takes a long time to gather all the data for our new book page format with more useful descriptions, themes, and activity ideas. Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
