About the Book Missing May

Missing May by Cynthia Rylant is a children’s novel that explores themes of grief, love, and healing. The story centers around a twelve-year-old girl named Summer, who has been living with her Aunt May and Uncle Ob since she was six years old. After Aunt May’s sudden death, Summer and Uncle Ob struggle to cope with their loss.

Uncle Ob becomes deeply depressed and obsessed with the idea of contacting Aunt May’s spirit. Summer, worried about her uncle, tries to support him while dealing with her own grief. They are joined by Cletus, an eccentric classmate of Summer’s, who believes he can help them connect with Aunt May.

The trio embarks on a journey to find a spiritualist, hoping to communicate with Aunt May. Although they face disappointment when they discover the spiritualist has passed away, the journey helps them find a renewed sense of purpose and hope. By the end of the novel, Uncle Ob decides to live for Summer, and they begin to heal together, cherishing the memories of Aunt May.

This touching story highlights the importance of family, resilience, and the power of love in overcoming life’s challenges.

Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
