About the Book Muggie Maggie

Muggie Maggie by Beverly Cleary is a charming and relatable story about an eight-year-old girl named Maggie Schultz who stubbornly refuses to learn cursive writing. Maggie finds the loops and connections of cursive writing silly and unnecessary, preferring to stick with print. Her teacher, Mrs. Leeper, and her parents try to encourage her, but Maggie remains defiant.

To motivate her, Mrs. Leeper assigns Maggie the task of being the class messenger, delivering notes written in cursive to other teachers. Maggie becomes curious about the content of these notes, suspecting they might be about her. This curiosity eventually leads her to try and decipher the cursive writing. Through this process, Maggie gradually overcomes her resistance and learns to appreciate the value of cursive writing.

The story highlights themes of perseverance, curiosity, and the importance of overcoming challenges. Maggie’s journey from resistance to acceptance is both humorous and heartwarming, making it a delightful read for young readers.

Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
