About the Book Snow Bound

Snow Bound by Harry Mazer is a young adult novel that revolves around the themes of survival and cooperation. The story follows Tony Laporte, a fifteen-year-old boy who is often described as spoiled and rebellious. After his parents refuse to let him keep a stray dog, Tony decides to run away in his mother’s old car. During his escape, he picks up a hitchhiker named Cindy Reichert, a girl who struggles with forming friendships.

As they drive through a severe snowstorm, Tony tries to impress Cindy with his driving skills but ends up crashing the car in a remote area far from the main highway. Stranded and with no immediate help in sight, Tony and Cindy initially spend their time bickering. However, as the days pass and their situation becomes more dire, they realize that they must work together to survive.

The novel explores how the two characters evolve from being self-centered and isolated to understanding the importance of cooperation and mutual support. It’s a gripping tale of endurance and personal growth set against the harsh backdrop of a winter wilderness.

It takes a long time to gather all the data for our new book page format with more useful descriptions, themes, and activity ideas. Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
