About the Book Stormbreaker

Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz is the first book in the Alex Rider series, introducing readers to the thrilling world of teenage spy Alex Rider.

Stormbreaker follows 14-year-old Alex Rider, who is thrust into the world of espionage after the mysterious death of his uncle, Ian Rider. Initially told that Ian died in a car accident, Alex soon discovers that his uncle was actually a spy for MI6 and was murdered.

Recruited by MI6, Alex is blackmailed into completing his uncle’s final mission. He is sent undercover to investigate Herod Sayle, a tech billionaire who plans to distribute free high-tech computers called Stormbreakers to schools across the UK. However, these computers are part of a sinister plot to unleash a deadly virus.

Throughout the mission, Alex faces numerous dangers, including near-death experiences and high-stakes confrontations. Using his wits and the gadgets provided by MI6, he uncovers Sayle’s plan and ultimately saves the day, proving himself as a capable young spy.

Themes in the book include the moral complexities of espionage, perseverance in the face of danger, and the interplay of technology and espionage. The novel is packed with action, suspense, and the excitement of a young protagonist navigating a dangerous adult world.
