About the Book The BFG |
The BFG follows the extraordinary journey of Sophie, a young orphan, who is snatched from her bed in the dead of night by the Big Friendly Giant (BFG). Unlike other giants in Giant Country who feast on human “beans,” the BFG subsists on disgusterous snozzcumbers and collects dreams to blow into the bedrooms of children. Initially fearful, Sophie soon realizes that the BFG is both kind-hearted and gentle. Together, they embark on a mission to stop the other giants from devouring children. The plan involves enlisting the help of the Queen of England. With a mix of bravery and wit, Sophie and the BFG concoct a dream portraying the terror inflicted by the child-eating giants, which they deliver to the Queen. Convinced by Sophie’s recounting and the BFG’s presence, the Queen mobilizes her army to capture the menacing giants, ultimately relocating them to a pit where they can no longer harm humans. The story concludes on a triumphant note as the BFG and Sophie settle into their new roles, with Sophie living happily ever after in the Queen’s palace and the BFG writing a book about their adventures.
