About the Book The Bomb

Theodore Taylor's The Bomb is set in 1946 on the small island of Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Ocean. The peaceful life of the islanders is abruptly interrupted when they learn that their home will be the testing site for an American atomic bomb. The book centers around a young boy named Sorry Rinamu, who is just 14 years old and faces unimaginable challenges.

Sorry discovers the plans for the bomb test after overhearing a conversation between American officials. Determined to protect his home and people, he conjures a daring plan to disrupt the test. Alongside his friends, Jonjen and Tio, Sorry navigates the complexities of growing up while struggling with the moral dilemmas of war and peace.

The narrative is filled with suspense and emotion. Taylor masterfully portrays the idyllic life on Bikini Atoll before the arrival of the bomb, contrasting it with the impending doom. Readers will feel the tension build as Sorry's plan unfolds and the stakes become higher.

Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
