About the Book The City of Ember

The City of Ember transports readers into a mysterious city built as a refuge for humanity. The city is encased in darkness, lit only by artificial lights. However, the Builders left a time-locked box containing instructions on how to leave Ember after 200 years. Unfortunately, the box is lost, and the citizens of Ember grow increasingly desperate as resources dwindle.

The story centers around two young protagonists, Lina Mayfleet and Doon Harrow. Both characters are assigned jobs during the annual Assignment Day. Lina dreams of becoming a messenger, while Doon is determined to fix the city's failing generator. They soon realize that their roles in saving Ember are far more significant than they initially thought.

Lina and Doon uncover the long-lost instructions left by the Builders. They decode the clues and find a way out of the dying city. Their escape is fraught with challenges, but their determination and teamwork ultimately lead them to the surface, revealing a world of natural light and boundless possibilities.

It takes a long time to gather all the data for our new book page format with more useful descriptions, themes, and activity ideas. Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
