About the Book The Funny Little Woman

The story begins in ancient Japan with a cheerful and jovial old woman who loves to make rice dumplings. One day, while she is cooking her favorite dish, one little dumpling rolls away and falls into a crack. Determined not to lose it, she chases after the dumpling and accidentally slides down the crack, landing in a mysterious underground world.

In this new realm, the woman encounters a series of curious creatures and characters, including the wicked Oni (ogres) who plan to eat her. Instead of succumbing to fear, she uses her wit and humor to outsmart the Oni, turning the dangerous situation to her advantage. Throughout her adventure, she finds herself in various predicaments but always manages to escape through cleverness and good humor.

Her final escape involves tricking the Oni to cook her rice dumplings, giving her just the distraction she needs to flee with their magic paddle that makes rice. With this paddle, she returns to her world and becomes the richest old woman in Japan, continuing her life filled with laughter and joy.

It takes a long time to gather all the data for our new book page format with more useful descriptions, themes, and activity ideas. Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
