The Girl Who Owned a City by O.T. Nelson is a post-apocalyptic novel where a deadly virus has eradicated everyone over the age of twelve. The narrative centers on ten-year-old Lisa Nelson and her younger brother Todd as they struggle to survive in their hometown of Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
Lisa, a clever and determined girl, steps up as a leader, organizing the neighborhood children to fend off gangs and secure supplies. After their home is destroyed by a gang, Lisa devises a plan to convert the local high school into a fortified city. She spearheads the transformation, becoming the de facto leader and ensuring the children’s survival and safety.
