About the Book The Graveyard Book

The Graveyard Book opens with a chilling scene—a mysterious man named Jack murders an entire family, save for one toddler who miraculously escapes. The young boy, later named Nobody "Bod" Owens, crawls into a nearby graveyard where he is adopted by its ghostly inhabitants. Raised by the compassionate Mr. and Mrs. Owens and protected by his guardian, Silas, Bod grows up learning the customs and secrets of the dead.

Throughout the book, Bod encounters various supernatural beings, including witches, ghouls, and even a living, breathing human girl named Scarlett. Each chapter serves as a vignette in Bod's life, capturing his adventures and the lessons he learns. As Bod matures, he becomes increasingly aware of the world outside the graveyard and the dangers that lurk within it—including the relentless pursuit of Jack, who seeks to finish what he started.

The climax builds towards a final confrontation between Bod and Jack, where Bod must use all the knowledge and skills he has acquired to protect himself and those he loves. Ultimately, Bod outgrows the graveyard, leaving to find his place in the world of the living, carrying with him the wisdom imparted by his ghostly family.

It takes a long time to gather all the data for our new book page format with more useful descriptions, themes, and activity ideas. Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
