About the Book The Haymeadow

The Haymeadow follows the story of 14-year-old John Barron, who is unexpectedly tasked with overseeing his family's sheep for the summer in a remote mountain haymeadow. With his father away due to a back injury, John is thrust into a challenging situation far beyond his comfort zone.

Armed with basic supplies and accompanied by his faithful dog, John sets off on horseback to the haymeadow, unaware of the trials he will face. From the moment he arrives, nature throws its worst at him. He battles fierce storms, encounters wild animals, and struggles with the solitude and responsibility of caring for hundreds of sheep.

Midway through the story, John faces a life-threatening situation when a flash flood devastates the camp. This event marks a turning point, forcing him to dig deep into his reserves of courage and ingenuity. It becomes a test of survival that will either make or break him.

This Page Is Under Construction

It takes a long time to gather all the data for our new book page format with more useful descriptions, themes, and activity ideas. Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
