About the Book The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games is set in the nation of Panem, a dystopian society formed after the fall of North America. The capital city, known as the Capitol, rules over 12 districts with an iron fist. Each district is required to send one boy and one girl, known as tributes, to participate in the annual Hunger Games—a televised event where the tributes must fight to the death until only one remains.

The story follows Katniss Everdeen, a 16-year-old girl from District 12. When her younger sister Prim is selected as a tribute, Katniss volunteers to take her place. Alongside her is Peeta Mellark, a boy from her district who harbors a secret love for her. The narrative takes us through their preparation for the Games, their strategies for survival, and the alliances they form within the arena.

Inside the arena, the Games are brutal and unforgiving. Tributes face not only each other but also the dangers engineered by the Capitol. Katniss uses her hunting skills and knowledge of nature to stay alive, while Peeta's charm wins him public favor. The duo's strategy to present themselves as star-crossed lovers adds another layer of complexity to their survival tactics, ultimately leading them to defy the Capitol in a way that sparks the seeds of rebellion.

It takes a long time to gather all the data for our new book page format with more useful descriptions, themes, and activity ideas. Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
