About the Book The Maze Runner

The Maze Runner by James Dashner is a dystopian novel that follows the story of Thomas, a teenage boy who wakes up in a mysterious elevator with no memory of his past, except for his name. The elevator brings him to the Glade, a large, enclosed area surrounded by towering stone walls. The Glade is inhabited by other boys who, like Thomas, have no recollection of their previous lives.

The Gladers, as they call themselves, have established a rudimentary society and are dedicated to solving the mystery of the Maze that surrounds them. The Maze is a constantly changing labyrinth filled with deadly creatures known as Grievers. Each day, a group of boys called Runners venture into the Maze to map it out and search for an escape route.

Thomas quickly feels a strong urge to become a Runner and help solve the Maze. His arrival triggers a series of strange events, including the appearance of the first girl, Teresa, who brings a cryptic message. As Thomas and the other Gladers work together to uncover the secrets of the Maze, they face numerous challenges and dangers.

The novel explores themes of identity, survival, and the consequences of scientific experimentation. With its fast-paced action, intriguing premise, and complex characters, The Maze Runner captivates readers and sets the stage for an exciting series.
