About the Book The Trumpet of the Swan

The Trumpet of the Swan is a classic children’s novel by E.B. White, published in 1970. It tells the story of Louis, a Trumpeter Swan born without a voice in the Canadian wilderness. Concerned about his future, especially his ability to find a mate without a mating call, Louis’s father vows to help him.

Louis befriends a boy named Sam Beaver, who takes him to school where Louis learns to read and write. However, this doesn’t solve his communication problem with other swans, as they can’t read. In love with a swan named Serena, Louis struggles to catch her attention due to his silence.

In a twist of fate, Louis’s father steals a trumpet for him, giving Louis a new way to express himself. Despite initial challenges, Louis becomes proficient with the trumpet, which allows him to communicate and eventually win Serena’s heart. The story is a touching tale of overcoming obstacles, finding one’s own voice, and the power of perseverance and ingenuity.

Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
