About the Book Twelfth Night
Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare is a classic comedy that intertwines themes of love, identity, and festivity.
In the fictional kingdom of Illyria, the nobleman Orsino pines for the love of Lady Olivia, who is in mourning for her brother and rejects all suitors. Meanwhile, Viola is shipwrecked on Illyria’s shores and, believing her twin brother Sebastian to be dead, disguises herself as a man named Cesario to serve Duke Orsino.
As Cesario, Viola becomes Orsino’s page and is sent to court Olivia on his behalf. However, Olivia falls for Cesario, unaware of Viola’s true identity. This creates a love triangle: Viola loves Orsino, Orsino loves Olivia, and Olivia loves Cesario.
The subplot features Olivia’s rowdy uncle, Sir Toby; his friend, Sir Andrew; her witty maid, Maria; the clown Feste; and the puritanical steward Malvolio. A prank by Maria leads Malvolio to believe Olivia loves him, causing him to behave oddly and be deemed mad.
Sebastian, who is alive, arrives in Illyria with his friend Antonio. Mistaken identities lead to further comedic situations until the twins are reunited, and the truth is revealed. The play concludes with the resolution of the love entanglements and marriages.
Twelfth Night is celebrated for its humorous take on the fluidity of gender roles and the unpredictable nature of love, set against the backdrop of a festive, carnival-like atmosphere.

It takes a long time to gather all the data for our new book page format with more useful descriptions, themes, and activity ideas. Meanwhile, this page is active so you can order books; it just isn't quite as informative or graphically appealing as the new page will be. Thanks for understanding! :-)
